About the Blog

Yuyu Ng  is a MArch student at Chinese University of Hong Kong.

This blog is a collection of thoughts towards ruins, including abandoned buildings, and the forgotten or neglected local art and aesthetics. Hopefully a new point of view dedicated to Hong Kong’s ruins can be emerged through rigorous reflections and analysis.

To bring ruins into new light, it is necessary to investigate not only the visual ruins, but also the stories, human interpretation and theories behind. Here, different case studies and issues are discussed in an unprecedented way, in attempt to build a n in-depth relationship between the segregated topics of art, politics, history, preservation concerning ruins.

Swimming through the sea of vast amount of documents with constant struggles between contradicting thoughts, it is easy to get lost and be confused. This blog, thus works as a journal to trace my thoughts and my passion on this unique topic.

勿忘初衷。
這條不是康莊大道,但是攀過山、游過水,最終總會看到明媚景致。與其任由廢墟幻滅,何不給予它重生的自由?
